Simon & Halbig Doll Bisque Socket Head, Leather & Cloth Body 1039 18 Antique. This doll is absolutely beautiful. The antique German doll is sure to please with her precious face, wig and outfit. She has a long brown curly hair wig and brown glass eyes that are set they do not move. Her facial features are painted on long feather brows, nice eyelashes, sweetheart lips and a peaches & cream complexion. She has an open mouth and four teeth. The dimple in her chin is the cutest and her ears are pierced. She is not wearing earrings. She has a socket head. Her face, breast-plate and lower arms and fingers are bisque. Her upper arms and body to below the knees is made of leather. The arms are jointed and move freely. The knees on the front and just below her buttocks on the back are slit to allow for slight movement. The rest of her legs and feet are cloth a muslin fabric over perhaps sawdust or straw. Her yellow matching blouse and skirt has a wonderful lacey embellishment with some pleats around her bodice and a blue velvet trim. Her undies entail a nice pair of bloomers with a pleated and flared bottom with a touch of lace. She is wearing white bobby socks and felted shoes with a gold buckle on them. All the porcelain is in very good clean condition with no chips or cracks. Dolls leather body is in very good condition with no rips or holes in the leather. The leather is soft and supple. The leather has some dirt marks and pricks in it especially on the back so check out the photos. Cloth legs and feet are in good condition although there are dirt and water marks. Marked on the back of her head. 1039 / 5 ½ DEP. The breastplate is marked on the back: 7-20. She measures 18 inches in height. This doll came from an avid doll collector who passed away years ago.
