Stone is bezel set and appears to float. A raised dappled center surrounds this cut out with a dash and dot border and horizontal lines flanking the stone. T his beautiful violin shows no open cracks or open seams. The table is finely grained spruce and the back, as well as ribs and neck, is nicely flamed maple. Like always the instrument has been completely checked by our luthier and by our violin player on playability. In our workshop it received new setup with new ebony pegs, new ebony tailpiece, new ebony chinrest, a new bridge, new soundpost and new strings. These are new German silver wound steel core strings with good projection, easy to play while allowing rapid finger performance. We use these strings on mostly all of our violins to provide a comparison of the tonal qualities of each instrument in the videos. In any case a new owner should consider higher quality strings of own personal preference to enhance the full character of this violin! Interesting old German lionhead violin. Finely carved scroll in shape of a lion’s head and accurately inlaid purfling. T his beautiful violin shows no open cracks or open seams, but surely some marks due to its age in it´s old amber varnish. The table is medium to fine grained spruce and the 2-piece back – as well as ribs and neck – is nicely flamed maple. The violin has been checked by a luthier and by a violin player on playability. It received a new set-up with new ebony pegs, new ebony tailpiece, new ebony chinrest, a new bridge, new soundpost and new strings. These are new silver wound steel core strings with good projection, easy to play while allowing rapid finger performance. Beautiful old instrument in immediate playing condition!
