DIMENSIONS WITHOUT THE FRAME: 20″ H x 23″ H. Heinrich Heuser (1887 – 1967) was active/lived in Germany. Heinrich Heuser is known for Post-Impressionist style, paintings and prints. Born: 1887 – Stralsund, Germany. Heinrich Heuser was a German artist who began drawing motifs from Stralsund and the island of Rügen in 1906. He studied at the academies of fine arts in Munich and Weimar from 1907 to 1910, and joined the Berlin Secession in 1911. In 1917, his works were traded by the Berlin gallery owner and art dealer Paul Cassirer, and in 1919 he became a founding member of the Darmstadt Secession. During the National Socialist regime, his works were declared “degenerate” and removed from museums, and he was banned from working professionally. After the war, he joined the Munich Secession and became chairman of the newly founded artists’ association “Der Ring” in Berlin in 1951. He is known for his Post-Impressionist style paintings and prints. The painter and graphic artist trained in Munich and Weimar. In 1919 he settled in Berlin and performed works in German theaters. Museums in Mannheim, Dortmund and Szczecin own works by the artist. Heinrich Heuser passed away in 1967.

Heinrich Handwerck mold 109 – 15 socket head with a stamped original ball jointed composition body. Glass sleep eyes, dark painted lashes, brushstroked and multi-feathered brows, accented nostrils, open mouth, 4 porcelain teeth, pierced ears with pearl drop earrings, brown human hair wig, ball-jointed body, antique ensemble includes dress, petticoat, pantaloons, stockings and 1 leather shoe. Modern miniature black purse completes the look. Great facial expression and coloring. Displays very nicely with the following condition issues: human hair wig is shedding and needs attention or replacement and was only taped onto head; right ear has some sort of residue on it, face needs a bit of a wash which I did not attempt. Body overall good with some cracks and damage, toes still retain toenail polish! Scrapes as expected on a body over 110 years old but so nice to find this substantial doll! Offered today is a GORGEOUS Heinrich Handwerck antique German bisque child doll. She is an impressive 30 inches tall, with a perfect bisque head on her original ball-jointed body. Her lovely features include upper and lower painted eyelashes, nicely feathered eyebrows and a beautiful peaches-and-cream complexion with red accents at her nostrils, and artist-rendered fine lip lining on her mouth. Her mouth is open, with four upper teeth. She is wearing a French human-hair wig and is dressed in an antique dress with lovely embroidered garland sand flowers, and with a matching hat. She also has pierced ears and is wearing earrings. Beautiful antique condition — from a non-smoking environment. Her head is free of any damage or repairs after careful examination. Her body is beautiful with all of its original finish and stamped Handwerck. She has a small cracked paint portion on arm (see final photo)… Though I just keep the sleeve pulled down to where it’s not noticeable. She has her original blue sleep eyes with original eyelid wax, the eyes are in proper working condition. IMPORTANT: Besides the noteworthy issues mentioned above, EXPECT any antique doll (bisque/composition/leather/china/wood) to ALSO have: (1) SIGNS OF AGE – for example: toned/crazed/chipped composition, minor wig pulls, loss of “hair” lashes on bisque heads (if they had them), not-so-tight stringing, etc. (2) MINOR CONSERVATION WORK by previous owners/collectors – for example: reset eyes in most cases! , repairs to wig, repairs to clothing, touch-ups on composition/finish/paint, etc. Any MAJOR issues — hairline crack, total repaint, etc. – would be itemized above, but these normal age/conservation details are not. The modern clothing pictured will be sent along with the doll, one wig with cardboard pate. From a local estate this pretty girl has faults; very loose stringing/floppy, loss to paint around the wig area, eyebrow, light cheek rubs, eyelid has small chip at lash line, replaced rooted eyelashes one set is very loose. Head; she has a shallow flake at the back (above G) near wig area, she has what appears as a raised mold line running down the back visIble from letter K in last photo, there is also a darker mark on the side mold line same side/photo and fine cracking behind the lower portion of both ears crevice. Composition body has cracking most noted to neck and torso area, loss to composition around joints, very tips of fingers, one middle finger is cracked at center may have glue mend.
