Antique German Bisque Head Doll – Marked “21 Germany” A charming antique German bisque head doll dating to the early 1900s, featuring classic craftsmanship and beautiful display presence. This piece was acquired from a loving doll collector’s estate, where it had been carefully displayed and appreciated for many years. The bisque head is marked “21 Germany” on the back of the neck and shows finely painted facial details, including softly blushed cheeks, defined brows, and an open mouth with visible teeth. The doll has fixed glass eyes (non-sleeping) that give it a lifelike expression. A vintage mohair-style wig remains in place and is styled beneath a delicate floral headpiece. She is dressed in a soft cream-toned outfit that appears to be original to the doll. The dress is fragile with visible aging consistent with antique textiles and has not been removed, helping preserve its integrity. Likely Maker: Many similar figurines were produced in Germany, with prominent manufacturers including Gebruder Heubach and Conta Boehme. These German makers are highly regarded for their detailed sculpting and lifelike hand-painted features. Key Features: This specific piece depicts a child in a nightshirt with light green trim, a common color scheme for these items. Authentic antique versions often feature hand-painted details, molded hair, and sometimes “side-glancing” or “intaglio” eyes. This confirmed mark and number provide a clear identification: this is an authentic. The faint, circular symbol above the numbers is the Heubach sunburst mark. Welcome to A Century of Dolls New York. This is this a superb example of a large 15 Frozen Charlie with desirable pink tint face with deeply molded facial features with painted hair wisps. This Frozen Charlie sometimes referred to as Bath Baby Dolls has a China porcelain body with detailed eye painting. Made in Germany it has the rarer brown eyes and the wonderful wisps of hair with detailed brushstrokes. This all bisque Bath Baby Frozen Charlie doll is in excellent condition, he has no touch ups or breaks or cracks. A wonderful example for your collection.
