Here’s another early ornament for your Christmas collection. This early crepe paper and spun cotton ornament comes from a long time Christmas collection. It is a man with a hand painted composition face wearing a top hat and sporting a cane or walking stick. He is most likely German from the late 1800’s. He stands 4 3/4 in height. He is made of spun cotton, and his blue jacket and yellow pants are of crepe paper. His top hat is made of thin cardboard. His crepe paper jacket also has a small tear on the right front, which is shown in the accompanying photos. This is a nice early ornament worthy of continued preservation in someone’s collection! This is a beautiful antique German Heinrich Handwerck Halbig bisque head doll. She measures 24 inches tall and is in nice original condition. The bisque head has no damage when a light is shown inside. Her original body is stamped in red on the back lower right side. The left hand has a rebuilt finger and I see some paint touch up on the right lower arm. The feet look good and original. The body is loosely strung and does not want to hold poses. The eyes are original set and work with urging. The teeth look fine. She would grace any collection. This will be carefully packaged for its trip to you. I will stuff the head with fiberfil.
