The violin has is no label but the back measures 14 1/4 inches, a German measurement. I also believe this to be the work of one of the Klotz family of violin makers. My ex-wife had one just like it. This violin has no real problems except a few well repaired cracks on the table (top) including one on the sound-post. These cracks are all holding well. The bridge is a tad high on the G string for my picky tastes but may not bother anyone else. There are the usual scuffs and scrapes to the varnish one would expect from a violin this age. The sound is very robust for SOLO PLAYING. It is a “Cannon, ” of warm sound… You will be heard!!! The violin has excellent construction. The wood is lovely fine grain spruce on the table (top) and choice flamed maple on the ribs, back, neck. In it’s current condition. NOW YOU CAN OWN IT FOR MUCH LESS!!! What you see is what you get.
