Antique German Christmas Ornament Boy on a Sled RARE Artisan Restoration. This is an absolute charmer described as R2 (very rare) in George Johnson’s book Christmas Ornaments and Collectibles. I also used this reference book as a guide for paint restoration. Glass is intact with no cracks or flaws. Internal silvering is strong with some oxidation spots and at the pike. This fellow came to me with a great deal of paint loss. Paint restoration was accomplished using Vitrail glass paint from France. Only the eyes were touched up on the face. Please see all the photos as part of the description and measurement. As an artist, I strive to be historically correct as to the original intent and offer these scarce beauties to be enjoyed another hundred years.

She had the right eye intact and cracked and peeling paint. She also now has both antique German glass eyes with black pupils. I saved as much of the original paint as possible using a custom mixed chalk finish paint to match.
