Hand painted, cute kids and unusual pose. This is antique and not Dept 56 reproduction. Snow Babies, made from bisque and spattered with glitter sand, were first manufactured in 1864 by Hertwig and Company of Thuringia. Other German and Japanese companies copied the Hertwig designs. Originally, Snow Babies were made of candy and used as Christmas decorations. There are also Snow Babies tablewares made by. Copies of the small Snow Babies figurines are being made today and a line called “Snowbabies” was introduced by Department 56 in 1987. Wonderful baby twins in a bunting ornament. Lovely creamy white bunting with triple pink bows has two little twin babies inside. There is a bit of blue/green trim around the bunting edge. Super cute piece in wonderful condition. Some minimal paint loss and spotting on back. Strong silvering throughout with only a little loss at pike. A wonderful addition to any vintage collection.
