Fabulous Antique Belsnickle Santa Figure. This 7-1/2 tall handcrafted clay face Santa Wood and. With a red and white felt hooded coat and and a white fur beard. He is likely a German Christmas candy container which. Features a rare and unique design. The body is on a wooden post with a large spring inside below the head. Which makes him wobble or nod. There is a small basket for candy on his back. Stamped on the bottom. “Deutsches Reichs Gebrauchsmuster” which indicates that the product has been registered as a utility model or a design patent within the German Reich. This mark was in use from 1891 to approximately 1945. Would make a wonderful addition to any collection of antique. Holiday and seasonal figurines. Coat has some fading, dust and light dirt from age and storage; there are a few. Nicks on the clay face and the one hand may be missing a segment. Unsure if “tree branch” is original. I want to have satisfied customers and will do what it takes to resolve any issues.
