Originally made in the late 19th and early 20th centuries, these figurines were designed to sit atop grand pianos to anchor silk shawls or scarves in place, preventing them from slipping off the instrument’s polished surface. 10.5″ x 5″. Likely Maker: Many similar figurines were produced in Germany, with prominent manufacturers including Gebruder Heubach and Conta Boehme. These German makers are highly regarded for their detailed sculpting and lifelike hand-painted features. Key Features: This specific piece depicts a child in a nightshirt with light green trim, a common color scheme for these items. Authentic antique versions often feature hand-painted details, molded hair, and sometimes “side-glancing” or “intaglio” eyes. This confirmed mark and number provide a clear identification: this is an authentic. The faint, circular symbol above the numbers is the Heubach sunburst mark.
