Offering a very fine example of a China head doll with so-called Greiner-style hair, made in Germany in the 1850’s. She is perfect with no damage or repair, and retains her original, sturdy cloth body with cream kid lower arms that I believe are well-done, long-ago replacements. She measures 19 tall and has a beautiful, translucent, pink tinted head & shoulder-plate. This lady has a white center part and her dark hair displays deep, wavy comb marks and exposed ears, with wavy curls around the back of her head. She has such an endearing expression on her face, with large brown eyes, heavy red lid line with black upper eyeliner, single stroke brows, coral blushed cheeks, and painted coral accents to her inner eye corners, nostrils, and slightly smiling, closed lips. She has two sew holes front and back of her plate and the plate still retains the sewn thread connecting her shoulder-plate to her original cloth body. There is no leaking & her body is sturdy. Her antique costume is of the same period as the doll; a precious, hand-sewn woolen 1850’s A-line style in deep burgundy or maroon, with 6 red silk buttons down the front, a red piped rounded collar, and red silk, sawtooth decorative lower hem. There is an attached lace collar. Her petticoat and pantalettes are a matched set with crocheted trim, and she wears an additional wool flannel petticoat with soft pink featherstitching at the hem. She has an antique chemise as well as striped stockings and black leather or oilcloth boots. She is just a wonderful and desirable early china with everything going for her! Her cameo necklace is included; I forgot to put it on the outside of her dress when I was taking her photos. The last photo I show her beside an antique doll’s marble-top vanity with decorative miniatures that are currently offered in another listing, to show how she could look in a vignette of her own. Absolutely beautiful 53cm / 20.5in German antique bisque and composite doll with open mouth, 4 visible teeth, blue sleep eyes, and eyelashes. Doll comes dressed and with 2 wigs. This doll was made between 1902 and 1920, in a collaboration of two well renowned German doll manufacturers, K Star R and Simon and Halbig. Makers marks for both manufacturers are engraved on the back of the doll’s bisque head. The number 53 is engraved in the base of the doll’s head. This number refers to the size of the finished doll, 53 cm. This bisque head was observed both under black light and while illuminated from within. Small flaw along seam of back left ear. See photos for details. The dark shadows visible in the illuminated photo represent the presence and position of the support structure for the rare and hard to find sleep eye feature. Please remove this tissue paper with care to protect sleep eyes’ function. Doll comes with 2 vintage wigs, one blonde and one brunette. The blonde wig appears to be human hair. See photos to observe construction and condition of both wigs. Composite doll body is in nice condition. Appears to have been repainted. All fingers and toes are present. Some chipping at top of left leg joint. Small chip at right lower leg below knee joint. Doll stringing is fairly good, a bit loose. Have tightened or display as is. Doll comes dressed in vintage, possibly original clothing. Additional photos available upon request. Sale includes a pale pink dress with metal hook and eye closures. An ecru / ivory lace dress with pink ribbon trim and 2 metal pins for back closure. One of these pins is a Victorian era 10k gold bar style pin. This pin is NOT gold filled. Raised 10k marking on side of pin near clip. The marking is worn and a hard to read, but is still present. You will need superior eyesight or magnification to read. Sale also includes a lightweight trench style jacket with some smudges, pale pink lining trim, metal closures, and a carved, rectangular mother of pearl belt buckle. Sale also includes short bloomers (some stains) with 2 mother of pearl buttons. Half slip with hand stitching and a mother of pearl button. Stockings with some sumdges. Vintage deer skin button boots with nailed on wooden heels. Wear of boots is commensurate with their age. This precious 100+ year old doll will be packaged with care for secure arrival. Turn of the 19th Century. The Santa is quite unique, in that he has Blue Cheille over wire Legs, with Composition Boots. Very hard to find this one, and quite DESIRED by collectors. The Ornament measures approximately 5 1/2 high. The Glass has no chips, cracks or breaks. Expected wear to the painted surface. Chenille is clean, and of strong color. Early unmarked shoulder plate with three stringing holes on each side. Molded and painted hair. Detailed painted facial features, molded and painted stockings and boots one broken and missing. She is wearing a pretty two piece gown of antique materials that was sewn by an artist friend, antique undergarments. No hairlines or chip damage, light paint wear, one missing foot as shown, old repairs to the cloth body, clothing sturdy but may have small holes or spots due to age. Gown is made of antique fabrics but not antique sewn. Small hole from old doll stand on her torso. Waist is slightly weak but still displays fine. Antique German Belsnickle Santa. Made in the early 1900’s. Features Rabbit fur beard, clay face, hands and boots, felt suit and wired arms and legs. The sled and the tree are not included and were only used for photos. I found this at a local sale and this is how i got him. He may have been in a sled to begin with as i have seen some that were but he can be straighten up as well but i was afraid to do to much with him. There is a hole formed in the right hand to hold a tree which they frequently do. His Beard is sparse on his left side. Please see all photos for condition details.
