Antique German Lion Head Violin with Carved Fleur-de-lis Back – Coffin Case Included. Up for sale is a truly remarkable and rare estate find – an antique. Full-size violin, dating back to the late 19th or early 20th century. This instrument is full of historical character and unique artistic details, making it an incredible project piece for violin makers, restorers, or collectors. Carved Lion Head Scroll. Instead of a traditional scroll, the neck features a beautifully hand-carved lion’s head with a detailed mane and open jaws, typical of historic German (Markneukirchen / Klingenthal) craftsmanship. The back plate showcases a stunning, highly detailed carved/inlaid geometric. Fleur-de-lis / Celtic knot pattern. Set against a beautiful tiger-flame maple wood backdrop. Comes inside its original old-world black wooden “coffin” style case lined with rich red felt cloth. Full-size Acoustic Violin / Fiddle. Late 1800s – Early 1900s. Germany / Central Europe. Original wood coffin case (comes with a small bag of loose hardware/hinge parts). The body is structurally solid on the front face but shows decades of honest patina, heavy varnish wear, scuffs, surface scratches, and ground-in dust from long-term storage. The strings are broken/loose. The tuning pegs and decorated tailpiece are included but the bridge is missing. The historic wooden coffin case is heavily weathered with edge scuffs and rust on metal elements. Some small hardware parts have come detached and are stored in the included plastic bag. This instrument has not been cleaned, re-strung, or tested for playability. AS-IS / FOR REPAIR OR DISPLAY.

Up for sale is a magnificent, museum-quality antique Alpine-style Concert Zither (Konzertzither). This exceptional turn-of-the-century instrument represents a beautiful piece of German-American musical history. It features a meticulously crafted wooden body, a fully fretted melody fingerboard with pearl position markers, and a wide array of accompaniment harmony strings. The soundhole is beautifully adorned with an intricate, vibrant floral decal rosette that remains in gorgeous condition. Historic Provenance:Visible through the soundhole is the original historic paper shop label from M. Manufacturers & Importers of Violins, Bows & Strings, located at 1535 Third Ave near 86th St. In New York City. The Nebel brothers were prominent German-born luthiers operating in Manhattan’s Yorkville neighborhood during the late 1890s and early 1900s. This label firmly roots the instrument’s provenance in the rich musical immigration history of New York. The lid hinges are not functioning, one is missing. It looks like there is a string missing, but I could imagine it would need new strings? For it age it’s an excellent condition, but please do refer to the pictures as there are signs of use and its age. This is a virtual estate sale held in northeast Florida of the collections of multiple generations from my family. The proceeds will be used to create a healthy home for my future family. The clock contains an antique German movement. The case is of a later origin, and its exact country of manufacture is unknown. It appears that the movement was fitted into this case at a later time, which is quite common and acceptable with antique clocks. This does not affect the function or integrity of the clock. The movement and case work well together and present nicely as a complete clock. The case is designed so that the entire front section lifts off as one piece, allowing proper and easy access to the dial, hands, and movement. This is part of the clock’s normal construction. This beautiful antique violin is a Stradivarius model copy, likely crafted in the late 1800s to early 1900s in the Markneukirchen (Germany) or Schönbach (Czech Republic) region – both known for producing quality workshop violins with excellent craftsmanship. Features. Traditional Antonius Stradiuarius Cremonensis label (dated 1742, common for model copies). Solid spruce top and flamed maple back/sides. Inlaid purfling (not painted). Decorative floral tailpiece. Warm, resonant tone – soundpost intact and well-fitted. Original antique varnish with natural patina Condition: The violin is in very good playable condition for its age. No major cracks or structural repairs. Some cosmetic varnish wear consistent with age. The included bow is missing all of its hair and will require rehairing to be playable. Included.
