Large old cello measuring approx 51.5″ tall including the white rubber endpin stop, or about 48.5″ tall without it. It measures 17″ wide and the body depth is approx 6″ deep, 8.25″ deep including the tailpiece, or 9.5″ deep including the bridge. Copy of the Famous Antonius Stradivarius. Body length is 30 making it a 4/4 Size. This cello has wear typical of age and use. A small wood piece slightly protruding at the bottom edge (see close-up photo). The piece is original to it as it has the same exact finish as the rest of the Cello. Cracks on the upper bout of the body where the neck connects. A small chip on the C-bout part of the body edge. Few blemishes/scratches from where the bridge stands on the Cello. Light surface scratches and normal wear throughout. One of the Strings is pretty much a bare wire as the threading has worn off. Comes with a neat canvas cover, but it’s old and a bit fragile. It has a few minor tears that could be sewn back together. Please see the side-view photo-you can get a good idea of how the cover fits, even though the cello is shrink-wrapped for protection, which adds a little extra bulk. I’ve tried to show everything clearly in the photos & highlighting issues that I noticed by circling them in blue. Please zoom in closely on the photos as they are considered part of the description.

A picture is worth 1000 words, the sound is worth them all. This is truly a piece of history. It has been identified as a mid 1800s German factory cello by a professional appraiser. It has a full scale length; but unique with a 7/8 sized body (perfect for a female player) or someone who likes the timbre and tone of a smaller body. Because of its age, it had a big restore job done to the top by a local professional repair person. It was a 2,000 dollar restoration. The last 3 photos are of the restoration process. That sound is what makes it, its unique and simply cannot be compared to new cellos or even older ones, it’s a special instrument.
