Awesome Antique German Miniatures. A really sweet and special set of turn-of-the-century German bisque miniatures. Two circus clowns and their pink pig partners entertain the crowds. From our own collection and not easy to come by, especially as a pair. Head is re-glued on standing clown, hard to see without a loupe, you can enlarge the top photo to see it, not apparent on display. Possibly made by Hertwig, Heubach, Schafer Vater or some similar fine German bisque toy and doll maker of the early 20th century. These beautiful little bisque pieces were actually circus toys for children in the early 1900s. Many of this type were cold painted and the paint wore off over time, but on this fine little pair the paint is fired on and so it is still in excellent shape. Many of these little bisque toys didn’t survive over the years. This pair was passed down to us and has been sitting in a cabinet forever and a day, safe and sound. Having a drink after work! Not included in sale. Just shown for fun. Photographed with daylight bulbs for accurate color, though. Monitor colors may vary. Please see my listings for other wonderful German bisque miniatures. Antique Bisque CIRCUS DOLL Clown Automaton , Key Wind… Marked R 2/0 A…. About 15 inches tall , nice shape except her cloths are faded, use to be blue and red, can see the original color in the folds in clothing. Bisque head looks good no nicks cracks etc. Couple of chips on her fingers left hand (photo) minor. The base is wooden as are her shoes. When wound she rocks back and forth, the spring seems sluggish maybe needs to be wound a little mor. Nice circus elephant on a ball ornament. Lovely little trick elephant balancing on a red and white ball. He is painted in patriotic colors with his red and blue blanket. He has large tusks and a red headdress. He has some paint and silvering loss. He is approximately 3 1/4 L. A very nice piece to add to your collection. Please contact me with any questions.
