Antique VTG Eastern German Wraught Iron Tree Coat Rack NICE HEAVY Foyeur. Unbelievably sturdy iron coat rack tree from Eastern Germany. My uncle acquired this the day after the Berlin Wall fell. He was stationed in the Army and was there when the wall was demolished. He saw his future wife through the gap in the wall and this was the first item he was gifted from his new girlfriends family after the wall fell. Here it is in all its glory. You will not find another like it and believe me I have looked. The bottom comes with two iron drip pans that will hold the drips of water off your coats or whatever you hang here. For your consideration we have for sale this antIque (BELSNICKEL) figure made in Germany circa 1900- 1919. Formed of paper mache and decorated with trimed hood and a mica spotted red jacket and holding. This character represents a Belsnicle, who was actually not Santa Claus. Belsnickel was a popular Christmas character developed around the middle ages in European countries. Germany was known to have both happy and grim gift- bringers, and the Belsnickel was very grim one. He was not only feary but also god children to behave nicely though the year so that they could receive gift. Belsnickel is the first character in the history of Christms characters who clearly distinguished. Between good children and bad children, unlike Santa claus who presented gifts to those who names were on the’Santa list’. This sample is in excellent condition and painted in red with spotted mica, holding a feather spring. Theres is a very small chip on the lower edge. Here is an authentic antique handmade Santa Clause made in a traditional Belsnickle form, from the early 20th Century. It measures 7-1/2 inches tall and is in well loved antique condition. If it did not have a composition face, I would have thought it was entirely homemade. It consists of a composition head, and a cotton batting stuffed plush red velvet robe with white cotton batting added to the collar, cuffs, and borders, and also making up his beard. It has arms but no legs. There is expected wear and original patina, including some stitches coming out, and the cotton thinning in some areas. He sometimes is difficult to make stand. No maker’s marks or other indications of where or when it was made. Please review the photos for a complete description. For sale is a very rare late 1800’s antique German hand-made composite Belsnickle Santa and Candy Holder. This Belsnickle Santa is all original from head to base. He is dons a white fleece hooded coat tied together with a gold cord and bright red boots. He is in a walking position on a sparkly mica covered platform. The composite face is exquisitely detailed and the hands, boots, and body are also composite. This rare Santa antique is loaded with a bag of toys on his back (all original), a large package on his left shoulder, two Sarotti Chocolate Angels, and a Sarotti Chocolate Toy lantern in front. Santa is decorated with red ribbon, greenery and pine cones. This antique item is in excellent condition and the candy and bag has never been opened. The Belsnickle stands approximately 9.5″ T x 5″ W x 6 D. This is a very unique, hard to find item, and will enhance any Christmas display or collection.
