Great example of antique invention! The doll is approximately 15 tall. The head is made of wax. As all the antique wax heads this one also has paint imperfections and other wear, but overall condition is good. The head should turn when pulling the strings, however we don’t know how it works. The head is smoothly turns by pushing the head with hand. The molded detailed shoulder plate and hood most likely are made of papier mache. The body of the doll is made of carton and cloth and has original stamp with the patent. The doll has a crier, which is missing strings, so we can not check if this works or not. The body and composition lower limbs are in great condition. The clothes of the doll look original. The doll is clean and looks almost unthatched. Some stains on the cloth body. The doll is coming with the toy. No stockings or shoes. No stand is included. Please refer to the pictures for more details. Such a beautiful face! Big brown sleep eyes, thick eyebrows, open mouth with 4 upper teeth and well defined dimpled chin. Nicely blushed cheeks that have no rubs or scratches. Pierced ears with no chipping. Bisque head is free of cracks and repairs. Brunette human hair wig with a brass hair clip on each side of head. So special that she still has the pull strings for her working crier. Pull one string and she “cries”, the other string does not pull. The body is red stamped “Handwerck” and has all the original factory finish. Pointer finger on left hand had a repair. A crack in the paint on both lower legs front and back. Rare 16 Kesnter antique German doll marked C 160 7 with a working crier body. Well strung ball jointed body marked in red Germany1 on the back. Back of one leg has slight damage please see pictures. She came with the brown wig (which is actually a repaired one made of two wigs). I had a blond wig that fit her well so I will be sending both. Painted eyelashes and feathered eyebrows. Nice coloring on cheeks, open mouth with teeth. No cracks in head. She had no clothing when I got her, the dress is a newer dress but the only dress I had in her size. UPDATED-I posted another picture of her face close-up. I initially did not see it until someone kindly pointed it out. There are small paint chips under right eye.
