Antique German Litho Miniature Portrait in ormolu frame. Portrait appears to be litho on paper or metal. Portrait is NOT Handpainted or hand enameled. Damage the flowers on the ormolu frame. DAMAGED broken border on the frame. Small section shows repair-glue back and will likely break off under excessive pressure. Jiggles in the frame. Although the glass is quite loose fitting, it is in excellent condition. Dust and debris under the glass. Rust and wear to the back of the frame. Frame : 7.75 inch approx. I don’t know much about this piece as it belonged to my late grandfather and I don’t know much about violins in general. I do know that it’s not currently in playing condition and would be a project for someone with an interest in fixing it up. It measures 23.5 long. If you have any questions I will try my best to answer them. Thanks for your time and interest. Here is some more information based on some questions I’ve received. There is a peg in there rolling around. It says, repaired Nov – 51 by Frank Hunter Violin Maker Elkhart, Ind. The violin did work properly when I got it but then the part that holds the strings near the bottom broke. I’m seeing some scratches but the areas that look like cracks do not flex when pressure is applied so I don’t think it is a crack that goes all the way through.
