Antique 1850s 23 German China Head Doll Flat Top Covered Wagon Style Unmarked. Elegant 1850s Victorian China Doll in Lace Gown. Step back in time with this beautiful mid-19th century German china head doll, measuring approximately 23 inches tall. She features a classic “Flat Top” / “Covered Wagon” hairstyle, hand-painted blue eyes, delicate single-stroke brows, rosy cheeks, and coral lips. Her china shoulder plate is unmarked, typical of early German makers such as Hertwig & Co. The stitched cloth body has divided legs and leather lower limbs with boots, showing some gentle age wear consistent with the period. She is elegantly dressed in a golden silk-blend gown, lace-trimmed cape, and detailed corset, with layered petticoats and underskirt beneath. Her clothing evokes the charm and refinement of the Victorian era. Excellent for age with some expected wear to clothing. The silk-blend gown and lace cape show light age toning and a few small holes in the sheer overlay (see close-up photo). Dress back and shirt are pinned for proper fit. No visible cracks or repairs to the china head. Leather boots show gentle age wear. Overall, she presents beautifully and displays well for her age. 23 tall, graceful proportions. This is a great antique German School boy as shown. Perfect bisque with no repairs, chips, or hairlines. Leather body with bisque lower arms/hands with no repairs. Redressed as shown in vintage materials. Nice clean doll to display. He is 21′ tall. There are marks on the bottom of his shoulder plate on the back, but I could not take a picture. Found this German low brow doll in the back of Grandma’s closet. Odd that it keeps showing up as I have already tried to get rid of it five times — each time I turn my back it reappears in the closet.. Let me know if she gives you any issues, Grandma especially loved this doll and I can’t help but think her spirit likes to hang out inside it… She was a feisty one so be prepared for truly anything!

This is a very pretty 20 antique German Kestner 1 doll. She has perfect bisque with no damage. Marked Germany 168 on the back of the head. Nice sleep eyes in the original set. Original plaster pate and vintage wig. She is on her original body with all fingers and toes. Stamped on the back of the torso as shown. Stringing is a little loose, but not floppy. She is dressed as shown in a custom-made antique style dress, shoes and undergarments. Body is in in excellent condition. A pretty doll to add to your collection.
