Early All Original 12 Large Steiff Donkey with all. The Donkey measures approximately 11″ tall by 12″ long. A really nice original Large Steiff Donkey in original condition. Absolutely Wonderful Santa Figure Riding Nodding Donkey! Santa figure features: paper mache face & hands; rabbit fur beard & mustache; tomato red felt coat; blue felt pants and black composition boots. Santa is permanently attached to donkey. Super Paper Mache Donkey figure features: detachable weighted nodding head; glass eyes; leather ears; red grosgrain ribbon harness; rabbit fur forelock & mane; painted rope tail with rabbit fur tip; wooden stick legs. Lovely figure measures 4.5″ long x 5″ tall. Santa has a blue/white sticker on one boot,’MADE IN GERMANY’, circa 1920’s. Wear consistent with age: Santa figure leans forward on donkey; Santa is missing feather tree sprig from right hand; wear to felt clothing; cracks on composition boots; two black marks on Santa’s face; wear to rabbit fur beard & mustache. Wonderful German Santa in a mica cardboard sled with toys being pulled by a cloth donkey. Santa has a composition painted face , hands, and boots. Wired legs and arms are position-able. He has a red felted coat and hat with white trim. He has faded blue pants. He has a feather tree in his hand. He has a cotton fur beard and mustache. He is glued into the sled. He has a tiny chip on nose and chippy boots at toes. The right shoulder seam is coming undone. Bit rough but still wonderful. Can’t get a size due to him affixed to sled. Donkey is wool or cloth covered with felted ears, mane and blanket. He has glass eyes and a suede leathery bridle. He is missing pieces of his bridle on both sides. He has a foil Germany tag on the front of his bridle. He makes a rattle sound when shaken. 4″ H x 4 ” L. Sled is white with mica covering. Santa affixed to front and leather reins of donkey attached to handle. Back of sled is filled with a bottle brush tree and tiny wooden toys. There are 8 wooden German toys that include a tree, house, pig, horse, soldier, witch, cow, and a running horse or dog. Toys are loose in sled and can be re-arranged. Sled has no markings. May be some paint and paper rub offs as well as some bent edges and vintage soiling. Sled is 5″ L x 1 3/4″ W x 2 5/8 H. Length of sled piece with Donkey is 9 1/2 L.
