This is such a rare beauty. Standing at approximately 11 1/2 tall. This exotic beauty has so much character. When collecting black antique dolls collectors looks for even and beautiful complexion. This doll has it all! The beautiful painting of features and a wonderful costume , ready to display. She has black enamel glass inset eyes. Swivel head on a black painted body. She has a ball jointed body resembling a sonneberg type. Beautiful ball joints and pose-ability on this doll. She has beautiful sculpted lips and features. Ruby red painted lips and painted inner corner of eyes. She has an absolute STRIKING face. She has beautiful molded ears. Her eyes are my favorite thing on this doll. She has a beautiful expression. She wears a simple but well made early outfit with hat. Wonderful undergarments and newer red shoes. Her little hat is just adorable. She wears a glued on mohair wig, styled in cute little curls. She also has a cute apron. Condition: pristine antique overall condition! As nice as they come. The wig is glued on so I cannot remove it without damaging or compromising her original condition. Black doll, dressed as a cute old woman, made by German firm Armand Marseille, 1885-on. She stands 14 tall and has no chips, cracks or hairlines on her bisque socket head. Her bisque coloring is a little rubbed on her right side by her cheek bone, barely noticeable but wanted to mention. Her composition ebony black painted body has age related wear with the original stringing very loose. At some point she needs restrung, but will pose nicely on a stand… Please look at photos. She has the long stick legs commonly seen on Armand Marseille. Rich amber spiral threaded brown glass eyes set in place and original antique black mohair wig w/ some grey coloring throughout Original painted coral lip color that has some fading/rubs. Dressed in an antique skirt, blouse, apron, red shoes and beautiful turban attached to wig. Clothing is old and I did not want to undress her risk tearing. Skirt has one small tear in the back. Offering a beautiful antique ebony black painted bisque socket head doll I discovered resting peacefully in a box at a local estate sale. She is made by Hermann Steiner, early 1900’s and incised on the back made in Germany HS 13. She stands 20 inches stall and has no chips, cracks or hairlines on her bisque socket head. She has a tiny little rough spot on her left nostril, not damage, looks like a factory flaw occurring when the bisque was fired. Just want to point out. Her composition ebony black painted body is in nice condition with the exception of the stringing is loose and at some point need restrung. She looks original to me, but might have touchups/repaint here and there.. She loves to sit and pose on a bed or chair, but to loose to pose on a stand. She has her original short caracul type black mohair wig w/ pate and old bow on top in lovely condition, stunning amber glass eyes set in place and her original painted coral lip color that has some fading/rubs, as most old dolls do. Dressed in a beautiful Edwardian style white dress with Empire waist, mutton sleeves and lace throughout. Antique bloomers pinned on, antique shoes and socks – shoes are a little rough in some spots and ties frail. Feel free to ask questions. She is an old antique doll with some flaws, but radiates a genteel southern girl charm. Ready for her next travel adventure.
