I know very little about this item and so will let pictures do the talking. I will be glad to answer any questions promptly. This fine helmet appears to be original & complete. But I can’t be 100% sure. Betting there’s plenty of experts out here that will know all about this, & any so info would be much appreciated! This helmet appears to be the black lacquered thick molded leather shell with leather visor & neck guard. DETAILS: It has what appears to be black ink hand written numbers 242 in sweat liner. It shows typical wear with nicks and dings to the shell and a little bit misshapen form, but no cracks or breaks that I can see. Metal helmet plate is good & reads “IN TREUE FEST”. Metal chin-strap appears good & has black leather strap attached. The stitches are loose on each side of the leather neck guard & across front visor. Not sure if inside post of Spike has been repaired at some point or if that’s how it was. Metal spike tip also has a small hole in top end. Inside liner is good & appears to be very soft possibly deerskin & silk? All of the brass & metal hardware including nuts, etc. Appears to be period correct. Measures approx: 9 from visor to neck guard. 7 long front to back inside. 9 tall to top of spike as sitting on table. World war 2 II ww2 german helmet. I was told this is possibly a german helmet from world war 2, possibly a m40? I have not cleaned or altered the helmet in any way. I did not find any markings on the inside or outside. Measurements from bottom at longest points 11 1/4 x 9 1/2. This would be a great piece for a collector. Yes this World War II German Africa Corp. Pith Helmet is in nice condition, no rips, holes or stains as you can see in the pictures. Has a very nice leather patina edging and leather headband and is pretty much intact. It is missing leather chin strap. Not sure about size of helmet but nice collectible piece!
