Offering a very fine example of a China head doll with so-called Greiner-style hair, made in Germany in the 1850’s. She is perfect with no damage or repair, and retains her original, sturdy cloth body with cream kid lower arms that I believe are well-done, long-ago replacements. She measures 19 tall and has a beautiful, translucent, pink tinted head & shoulder-plate. This lady has a white center part and her dark hair displays deep, wavy comb marks and exposed ears, with wavy curls around the back of her head. She has such an endearing expression on her face, with large brown eyes, heavy red lid line with black upper eyeliner, single stroke brows, coral blushed cheeks, and painted coral accents to her inner eye corners, nostrils, and slightly smiling, closed lips. She has two sew holes front and back of her plate and the plate still retains the sewn thread connecting her shoulder-plate to her original cloth body. There is no leaking & her body is sturdy. Her antique costume is of the same period as the doll; a precious, hand-sewn woolen 1850’s A-line style in deep burgundy or maroon, with 6 red silk buttons down the front, a red piped rounded collar, and red silk, sawtooth decorative lower hem. There is an attached lace collar. Her petticoat and pantalettes are a matched set with crocheted trim, and she wears an additional wool flannel petticoat with soft pink featherstitching at the hem. She has an antique chemise as well as striped stockings and black leather or oilcloth boots. She is just a wonderful and desirable early china with everything going for her! Her cameo necklace is included; I forgot to put it on the outside of her dress when I was taking her photos. The last photo I show her beside an antique doll’s marble-top vanity with decorative miniatures that are currently offered in another listing, to show how she could look in a vignette of her own. Adorable and unique vintage Antique bisque doll with ball joints. We are not experts on dolls by any means but when we saw this one we had to make an offer. The dress is beautiful but does seem modern the doll however has got some age. Signed B3 on the back of the neck the wig has been glued on. Minor cracking of the top coat shows the wood or paper mache? One finger is sadly missing. The attention to detail on such an old piece is truly something to behold.

Lovely bisque, I found no hairlines or breaks, brown glass sleep eyes that function freely, pierced ears, open mouth with 4 teeth. She is strung well, can stand and pose on her own. She has a magnificent jointed composition body, No crazing, all of her fingers are in tact. There does not appear to be any repairs. From an estate that was passed from grand mother to mother to daughter and no generation left to pass her too. Dressed in vintage but NOT original cotton full length dress, with bloomers, under dress, vintage high button shoes and socks.
