He came to the US after WW2, and eventually to work at FAG Bearing company in Joplin Missouri. He was a Radio Officer in the German Military during the war, and later an avid Ham radio enthusiast! The clock has a label with his call letters! Please check out our other items from the same estate! Unknown if the clock is running, and there is no key present. The case appears to be bakelite, and in good condition! It is also unknown how the previous owner acquired the clock! A super piece of authentic WW2 Naval History! Thanks for looking at our items! I secured a key this afternoon and wound the clock a few turns, It is running strong and has kept the correct time for two hours so far. Clock, case and glass look good for its age. However, it is running sporadically at best. Appears to be wound to the max and will run, then stop, gently tapping the case had it running, then it stopped, moving hour hand past 12 oclock you can hear it strike and run some more. It will run, but not more than a minute or two at a time. I cannot promise that when you get it, it will do that, Im just describing what its doing know. Clock face is 4 ¼ across. Case is 2 ¾ thick. I do not see anything other than Made in Germany. Tried to open back, but dont have right screwdrivers and screws are very tight. Just assumed it was USN, but may be other. I Googled images under a lot of different search terms and cannot find a matching image of this clock anywhere, looked at hundreds of photos. (Hoping its very collectible). Key reads HR 75-283 West Germany, but Im certain its not the key that came with this clock, although it fits. I will post as much as possible in-between my search for a job (out of work). Antique German violin circa 1910. Two labels inside stating it is an Amati copy and the name of the importers in New York (see photos). It was originally made for the U. Navy Band, as it is branded U. On the back below the button. Length of back = 14 inches. Set up with German Wittner tailpiece and Helicore strings. A new set of ebony pegs had been professionally fitted. The bridge was well carved and thinned, stamped by the late James Fegley, a luthier from Reading, PA. I have been playing traditional fiddle music on this violin. The action is low and easy to play. You might wish to adjust the violin according to your own personal playing preferences. There are a couple of old repairs on the violin: a 3 repaired crack extending up from the chin rest clamp on the back of the violin (see photo 3), and repairs to the scroll (see photos 8-10), all of which appear solid and strong. There are the usual nicks and dings, and some wear to the varnish on the scroll (see photos). There is no case, but the violin will be carefully and professionally packaged. I do my best to describe items accurately and honestly. Please examine all the photos closely, using the zoom function, as they are an essential part of the description.
