Offered is this beautiful antique majolica plate. Made by the Schramberg majolica factory in Germany around 1920. It features white and yellow daisy flowers around the rim and in the center with an ornate pattern in the green background that makes the leaves and stems of the flowers, just lovely. It measures 7.5 inches in diameter. It is in excellent antique condition with no chips or cracks. It has a manufacturing flaw on the edge as seen in photo and a few glaze flakes on the back foot as seen in photo, all normal for antique majolica. Markings : “DHG NY” on the outside of the band, tested, and guaranteed. Main stone measurements/color. Accent stone measurements/color. Band width: 0.18″ to 0.43″. Handmade in the late Art Nouveau era in Germany, a rare piece of WWI history. During WWI, German citizens were asked to give their gold jewelry and other items to aid the war effort; in return, a citizen would get this ring to mark their donation. Contains two German sentences: “Dem alten Vaterland die Treue zu Beweisen, ” and “Gab ich in Schwerer Zeit Ihm Gold fur dieses Eisen, ” which translates to “In this difficult time I gave gold for this iron, ” and For this fatherland, the true test. An iron cross accents the top of the ring face. Polished band for comfortable wear. Damage : Age appropriate wear. There is a mark from a past sizing visible on the band, which does not affect wear. Tarnish on the sterling silver can be removed with a buffing, if desired. The price has been reduced to reflect this. This listing is for the item only. This was true due to the gorgeous designs that emerged from this period. This era drew inspiration from the beauty of women and the natural world, and the resulting pieces were often large and elegant. Enamel was a common material used in Art Nouveau jewelry, as the period emphasized the importance of the design over the materials used to create it.
