Fine quality german half doll likely by Meissen or Dressler & Kister. She is a nice large size and overall is in nice condition besides the right pinky being broken off. Very fine quality exquisite Civil War Era German China Doll Head with fancy hairstyle. Measures 2.9 high and 2.25 across the shoulders. Please note that there is a chip in the area of the bottom left hole on the shoulderplate and a fine hairline that extends from the other end of the hole up through the chest area, over the neck and down the other side. A favorite among collectors, this beautiful little Kestner 143 child is in wonderful condition. Her body is amazing as can be seen in my photos. It retains its original paint. There is slight chipping of the composition at the front of her neck and a small nick on the inside of her arm at the joint. This body is in wonderful condition. The words, Made in Germany, are clearly stamped on her back side. Her head is without damage – no hairlines, chips or cracks. She does have a tiny black speck below her left eye, high on her cheek. It is not easy to see and doesn’t detract at all from her lovely complexion. Her overall molding and painting is a tribute to the artistry of Kestner. Her pretty blue eyes open and close with ease. She wears her original plaster pate as well as her original blonde mohair wig which has been perked up a bit but is in its original style. Her dress was custom made by me with white cotton Dotted Swiss, satin ribbon, silk crochet floss, and cotton lace & eyelet. She also wears her custom made white cotton slip and one piece undies. All fasteners are metal snaps. Her shoes are leather and she wears stockings. This is a wonderful example of a well cared for doll that is well over 100 years old. She will be packaged with care.
