I’m a little confused about her…. She has an artist signature Linda V. Cheek and numbered but her head is JDK 257 and her body is old composition and jointed. Her legs have a poor repair at the knee-a nail is partially sticking out. SHE NEEDS TO BE RESTRUNG. Comes from a NON SMOKING home! Hair: Mabel has a beautiful reddish brown wig that is 100% human hair, is not attached, and will need to be glued. It is freshly washed with professional wig shampoo and lightly conditioned. This has a nice, clean scent so please be aware if you have any sensitivities (it sort of smells like baby shampoo – so sweet and light). Face: Mabel’s face is SO PRECIOUS! This particular one is VERY RARE. She has gorgeous brown eyes with painted eyelashes. She has lightly colored cheeks and lips. She has teeth and a TONGUE! She has such a sweet, innocent and calming look on her face…. I think I may have a hard time letting this one go.. Dress: A simple light mauve-ish (pink) dress with lace across the chest. There are a couple of stains on the back. I have not attempted to wash or remove but them may or may not come out with stain removers. She has a pendant in great vintage condition (shows signs of age like fading). Body: Body has signs of age throughout. Patterned socks are in good condition. Shoes are worn with a closure button missing. Mabel is VERY heavy – approximately 7 pounds. She measures approximately 29 tall. Mabel is patiently waiting for her new owner! Please give her a home where they can appreciate her sweet spirit! She would also be perfect as a prop for film/tv sets! I will consider all reasonable offers! KESTNER BISQUE HEAD DOLL. OPEN MOUTH with TEETH. PRETTY ANTIQUE REPRODUCTION DRESS. A delightful large bisque Kestner doll for your special antique doll collection! We found this wonderful antique Bisque head doll at an Antique Estate and Museum Doll sale in Maryland a few years back. She has such a lovely expression on her face! We do not know if our darling doll was from a private collector or the Museum Collection. This darling large doll. Came with several old tags which we will include. The two handwritten ones are probably from previous owners or from the museum. The third one is from Theriaults. K ½ Germany, 14 ½ is incised on her head. She has been repainted so we dont see a body stamp. These markings identify our pretty girl as one produced in the JD Kestner factory in Waltershausen, Germany between 1891 and the early 1910s according to our reference books, Doll Makers and Marks and Kestner, King of Dollmakers. Kestner was known as the. King of Dolls because his dolls were so spectacular and he was the earliest of the German dollmakers to set up his factory in Waltershausen providing jobs for 100s of the German townspeople. We have learned that Kestner heads have certain characteristics such as eyebrows that are heavy and shiny, high bow upper lips that have upturned ends and orange eye and nostril dots that match the shade of their lips. Our charming Young Lady fits all of the criteria mentioned above. HEAD This dolls charming bisque face has dreamy blue glass sleep eyes and thick multi-stroke eyebrows. She has an open mouth smile with tiny white teeth. She has pretty pink blushed cheeks. Her head has no hairlines, chips or cracks. Her soft blonde curly wig is old and may be original. It is thinning but looks lovely with her light blue eyes and cute hat! She is just gorgeous! CLOTHING Her original light blue silk dress has melted and is just falling apart (photo #10). We will include it in a separate box. We gave her the antique style floral dress she is currently is wearing. It is handmade and quite lovely. The matching sash is tied in the back. Her old handsewn slip and bloomers are most likely original. They have both have aged with a lovely aged patina. She also has old stockings and delicate antique black shoes. Her sweet head is topped with a newer straw hat. BODY This pretty young lady. Has an 11-piece ball jointed composition body, arms and legs. It appears to have been repainted at some time. Her shoulders, arms, wrists and hips and knees all still bend. The stringing in her arms and legs is loose so we will provide a doll stand for her. Our Lovely Young Lady is about 27 inches tall. CONDITION This adorable large Kestner doll is in Very Good Antique Condition. Her bisque head is lovely with beautiful blue working sleep eyes and a sweet smile! Her blue eyes appear to be original but may have been. There are no chips or cracks. Her composition is in very good shape. It appears to have been repainted but has some scratches from a doll stand. There is also a paint mark and a little chipped composition on her neck. The newer floral dress she is wearing is beautifully handmade and looks quite lovely on her. There are a few tears in the lace at the cuffs. Our gorgeous dolly is just delightful and displays wonderfully! This is a very old antique doll. This is an exciting doll, she is an extremely rare girl — an original German Bild Lilli with auburn colored hair. Almost all of them are blond. And she comes with her original outfit with Prym snaps, but I don’t know if the belt is original or not. She is in nice condition. She has some scratches and missing paint here and there, but she is not missing any fingers. Many are missing their thumb because these dolls are so fragile. She also does not have any spits down the side like many do. Her stringing is tight, but not too tight. I think there is a prong from a stand in her left foot because I cannot get that foot onto the stand, you have to use her right foot. Her original top has a mend at the right sleeve and is missing part of one of the snaps on the back. Her hair ribbon is a replacement. She will also come with a repro Bild Lilli stand.
