I believe it is a paper mache/ composition type of material. It is an english bobby riding a bull. It is a multiple nodder. The bobbies head moves as well as the tail of the bull and the ears of the bull. I have tried to show this in the video. They are on small strips of metal which makes those areas move/shake. The horns on the bull are metal. It has glass eyes, however one is missing. (Bulls left eye) The head of the bull where it goes into the body is loose and hangs a bit. (shown in photos) There are some areas of chipping/crazing light cracking in the paint as shown in the photos. I believe this is a very old German piece, but don’t see any markings on it. 5-1/2 tall and 5-1/2 long. It is a stunning candy container and have never seen another one! It has been in my collection for over 25 years. I will do my best to answer them.

This one is of the Little Red Riding Hood fairy tale, but unfortunately she is missing from the box, what cloth dolls/characters are left are shown in photos. I’m assuming the set has been played with, so expect normal signs of use, however I perplexed as to why the dolls are still attached to their original backing, as opposed to just being untied, played with and thrown back in the box loose, or at least that’s what I’d expect most children would do. So maybe it hasn’t been played with, I don’t know. I would say other than missing Little Red Riding Hood puppet, the most apparent and note worthy condition issue would be the box bottom. The bottom had fallen apart over the decades so I made a management decision to tape it back together. The Antiques Road Show guys would probably be frowning up on this idea, but I just felt w/o doing so, further damage would have occurred, I hope you understand. It comes w/ the theatre/theater props as shown. There is some writting that reads Red Riding Hood Puppets hand written on the side flap of the top portion of the box, it looks like it was done in pencil. I don’t really know what else to say. Outstanding 9 posable German Santa riding a Large German White Horse on wheels (pull toy). Pictures show the excellent condition of both Santa and his horse. Even the reins are intact. Approximately 11″ for horse to top of his head and 10″ from nose to tail and overall 13 to top of seated Santa. I have several die cuts depicting Santa riding a white horse or donkey but I have never seen one with santa riding a deer or elephant even though he appears more often to do so in three-dimensional objects. She had the right eye intact and cracked and peeling paint. She also now has both antique German glass eyes with black pupils. I saved as much of the original paint as possible using a custom mixed chalk finish paint to match.

Santa figure features: paper mache face & hands; rabbit fur beard & mustache; tomato red felt coat; blue felt pants and black composition boots. Santa is permanently attached to donkey. Super Paper Mache Donkey figure features: detachable weighted nodding head; glass eyes; leather ears; red grosgrain ribbon harness; rabbit fur forelock & mane; painted rope tail with rabbit fur tip; wooden stick legs. Lovely figure measures 4.5″ long x 5″ tall. Santa has a blue/white sticker on one boot,’MADE IN GERMANY’, circa 1920’s.
