Lovely Rare 30″ German Bisque Socket Head Doll Marked “G & C Kestner? She’ll steal your heart! Please view pictures for the best description of this little beauty. I’ll do my best to describe what I can. She is marked on the back of her head, “G & C” along with a maker symbol. I’m not able to identify this particular mark, but I do know that a very similar doll with the same mold number was made by Kestner. She stands about 30 inches tall with a composition ball jointed body and brown sleep eyes. Her body is marked on her back “made in Germany” in a circle. She’s in very nice condition, although loosely strung, and has an open mouth with four upper teeth and vibrant face color. Some eye lashes are missing, and her brown sleep eyes open and close as they should. She wears a gorgeous antique dress with an exquisite fine lace collar and matching lace trim throughout the dress. A thick satin slip is sewn into the dress skirt, and her matching bonnet, leather shoes and antique broach top off this great period ensemble. The doll is very interesting. We are not sure if the head is papier mache. It might be also composition, or some other material. She reminds of German papier mache dolls, yet she is different. The head is well preserved and has just small signs of wear. There are a few small cracks to the socket of the head. The wig is glued. The doll has unique molded hard jointed body with composition/wooden limbs. The body is light and is hollow. The body is well preserved and has a good stringing. Some wear to the arms that is shown on the photos. The doll comes with pantaloons, petticoat and dress. They are old and a little worn. The stockings and shoes are included. Such a sweet, hard to find 11 size! Bisque is free of cracks, chips, rubs or repairs. Big blue sleep eyes, open mouth with 4 upper teeth, well defined dimpled chin, pierced ears with earrings, no chips. Nice condition antique medium brown human hair wig that is tied back in a bun, pate included. Factory finish multi-jointed composition body with wear at leg/hip joints and arm joints. Antique silk dress/skirt that has separation on the bottom quarter, as pictured. Sewing can mend this, slight horizontal melting in back and a tiny amount of melting on front. Top is lined and has 3 front hook’n eye closures. Safety pin closure at waist of skirt. Antique lace trimmed full slip, satiny bloomers with matching lace trim. Vintage oilcloth tie shoes. Such a beautiful face! Big brown sleep eyes, thick eyebrows, open mouth with 4 upper teeth and well defined dimpled chin. Nicely blushed cheeks that have no rubs or scratches. Pierced ears with no chipping. Bisque head is free of cracks and repairs. Brunette human hair wig with a brass hair clip on each side of head. So special that she still has the pull strings for her working crier. Pull one string and she “cries”, the other string does not pull. The body is red stamped “Handwerck” and has all the original factory finish. Pointer finger on left hand had a repair. A crack in the paint on both lower legs front and back. She is properly marked on the back of her head. No hairlines noted in her gorgeous pale bisque. She does have significant wig pulls that have been professionally blended so not as noticeable. When her wig is off. Not seen at all when wig is on. She has big dark brown working glass sleep eyes. That have both heavy upper and lower painted lashes; feathered brows; accented eye corners and.
