This is a delightful small decorative cabinet that appears to be European, probably German. The lovely spice name plates on the drawers are porcelain. The drawers are nailed together and the knobs are wood. 2 knobs have broken off of their drawers. One drawer has a section missing and you can see a rod that was used in manufacturing to hold the pieces of wood together. I was not expecting to see that; I figured just nails and glue would do the trick. Also, these drawers do not have guides so they do not slide in or out like you may hope or think they should. It measures approx 9″ tall x 5.25″ wide x 3 deep. I gave it a cursory cleaning; there is what I would consider to be significant build up in areas; I just was not sure how to clean it or if the new owner would prefer it this way. It does shows wear associated with age and use. I would not use this for spices any longer, however, it may be suitable to store keys and other small odds and ends in. Here is an antique set you don’t see very often with so many pieces remaining. There are six canisters measuring 3″ high with lid (Flour, Rice, Coffee, Sugar, Oatmeal and Tea), six spices measuring 2-1/8″ high with lid (Cloves, Allspice, Cinnamon, Ginger, Pepper and Nutmeg), Oil and Vinegar, and salt. They are in very good condition except the following four flaws: Flour canister is cracked (not repaired), Sugar canister has a large chip, one spice lid is repaired and salt has a crack on the front which does not go through to the back. Please see photos of each. Everything else is fine. You can’t really see the four flaws if you are just displaying the set. I will leave them in “as found” condition, as found in estate with many nice antiques. These are doll size, not dollhouse size.
