Here is a beautiful early open mouth doll, and what a beauty she is. Her facial features are lovely with her blue sleep eyes with all the wax, pierced ears, multi stroke brows, perfectly painted mouth and 4 teeth. The doll has her original blonde mohair wig, plaster pate, and great original factory painted body with stiff wrists. She is wearing a wool antique dress, bonnet, blue stockings and blue shoes. Her slip and pantaloons are replaced. Condition: A few wig chips, no cracks or repairs. Dress has a few holes, and wig is a little thin in places. Her stringing is tight and she can hold a pose. Offering a GORGEOUS large 6 early German all-bisque stiff-leg Kestner doll. She has the wrestler type body.. With rounded chest, belly and chubby thighs… Her proportions are ample like that of a young girl child. This beauty has an open ball head and a gorgeous innocent face w/large (knock-out) cobalt blue glass eyes in the original setting… Eyes are stationary Her eyes remind me of the German dolls made for the French trade. Her eye cut-outs are almond shaped and outlined with black and surrounded by lush black painted eyelashes… On top & bottom. Stiff neck as well as stiff legs… Her arms do articulate. Her right arm has an old repair & it was nicely done. Her right foot/tip of shoe seems to have a bit of paint touch-up.. ? From what I can see with a magnifying glass. Her markings aren’t very legible… It could possibly be a “1” or an “11”… ? I can make out two vertical indents… That’s all that imprinted. Her face is exquisite with superb face painting. She boasts a lovely pale complexion, her bisque is sublime, very pale… I flashed her head and saw no hairlines. Doll has arched feather-painted eyebrows with the signature Kestner closed mouth of pursed coral butterfly lips. Her brows and lips have the unmistakable sheen of the lovely gloss paint they used in the early days for their quality dolls. She has a couple tiny kiln specks on her face and a minor factory flaw on the very back of her neck, which looks like faint tool marks… This can be seen as a couple thin black horizontal lines… Almost like pencil strokes, mid-way up her neck. Please enlarge photos to view. The quality wig is machine stitched down the center and has a fitted gauze head cap just like an antique wig. Her cream colored vintage/antique dress was made from fabric scraps & old lace… It’s handstitched and closes at her back with a straight pin. Doll has sweet shirred pink stockings with darling black one-strap high-heeled slippers, the slippers have yellow-tan soles She’s in excellent condition & ready to display… You’ll love her. Early style all-bisque Kestner measuring about 8. Tall with no wig. She has beautiful blue glass paperweight eyes (original set). Appears to have a “1” on lower back of head. Wrestler-like chunky contours of torso, muscular hips, thighs and calves. Well-defined small bosom emphasized by tightly-fitting silk dress. Round face, stiff hips, peg jointed arms (left arm modeled with more bend at elbow than right arm). Her head is made in a position turned to the right. Two-strap bootines, vertically ribbed white stockings. She has dark multi-stroked brows, finely painted lashes, closed mouth, accented nostrils and eye corners, dimpled knees. Dark blonde mohair wig with cloth skull cap and cardboard pate (I don’t know whether it’s vintage or antique). Highest quality bisque in perfect condition with no damage or repairs. Short scratch (mold flaw) on back of neck below the inscribed “1”. Her right eye has a thin vertical crack, which I believe is original to its making. The dress being sewn on I’ve felt through the fabric and I can’t feel any chips or other damage to the body and joints. She wears a flattering custom sewn blue silk dress, with dark blue velvet trimmed shoulders and bow on back of skirt. The bodice of dress is tightly fitting, which emphasizes the contours of her bosom. Fabric is in excellent, sturdy condition, except for stretching damage on upper back. Dress is sewn on, so I won’t attempt to cut it off. Sewn-on antique lace underwear. Thank you for looking. Antique Jointed Arms Stiff Leg ALL BISQUE DOLL. CUTEST innocent look on her face, pouty lips closed mouth. Her ecru dress is hand made antique. Made in Germany By KESTNER. Only Mark on back of head appears to be a 0 or 8. She is about 6 Tall. Damages: No mayor damages observed. Just tiny chips on her arms where wire has rubbed against the bisque.
