Welcome to A Century of Dolls New York. This is this a superb example of a large 15 Frozen Charlie with desirable pink tint face with deeply molded facial features with painted hair wisps. This Frozen Charlie sometimes referred to as Bath Baby Dolls has a China porcelain body with detailed eye painting. Made in Germany it has the rarer brown eyes and the wonderful wisps of hair with detailed brushstrokes. This all bisque Bath Baby Frozen Charlie doll is in excellent condition, he has no touch ups or breaks or cracks. A wonderful example for your collection. Do not use in the Bath he would sink he is to heavy?? Please see the Zoom Photos. He is a superb example.

This piece approximately 9″ by 13″ and has earned a Patina through time. It a wall Mount piece and had a previous hanging latch on the top board on the back. As well, there is a gift note on the back from somewhere in the past.

Nice body for a German or other doll head. Because of some different colors of the pieces I assume some are not original. They all look very good together in my opinion. About 9 1/4″ with the head opening being about 1 1/4″ outside opening. Does say Germany on the back. Does have scrapes and misc. Abrasions, etc as an older body will. Toes and fingers there. Hard to find in small size. Please take into consideration I have no idea where this doll body has been in it’s lifetime. I also have no idea if all the pieces were orginial to the body. Beautifully Superb, All Original, Antique German Toddler Character Doll 260 by Kestner, king of dollmakers. This sweet little girl stands 28 tall. She has a bisque head with brown, sleepy/flirty eyes, and a slightly open mouth with porcelain teeth. Her wig is an original bob style in a beautiful brown, almost auburn color adorned with silk flowers. Her body is composition and fully ball jointed at the wrists, elbows, shoulders, hips and knees. She has a swivel head in which her eyes move in different directions depending on which direction her head is turned. She wears a lovely, pale pink and cream lacy dress with a matching full slip with 3 layers of ruffles and matching panties. Her oil cloth shoes and nylon socks are original and in great condition. She also has a beautifully hand crocheted bonnet. And to complete her outfit is a beautiful, Victorian, embroidered silk coat with double lining and plenty of lace details and ribbons. Her condition is excellent. There are no chips or cracks to her bisque head. Her eyes are in perfect condition. Her composition body has no breakage or chips to the paint. There is very slight, age related crazing on her belly, which is normal due to the fact that wood expands in warm damp climate, then shrinks in cooler weather. After 100 years of climate change it is impossible to stop this natural effect. All her fingers and toes are intact and she has had no repairs. This superb quality little girl is a true treasure for any collector, and can be passed down for many more generations to come! The Simon & Halbig #979 model is a very rare and seldom-seen model. This example is the very best I have seenfeaturing very well defined facial modelling, delicate decoration of the bisque, absolutely stunning brown sleep eyes with much depth, early straight-wrist body with 8 loose balls, and superb costume! There is a line at the bottom of the neck socket near the mold line which is probably in the original manufacturing of the head. The body is a GREAT early body! It appears to be in the original finish. The sleeves of the blouse are sewn at the wrists, so I cannot entirely remove the outfit to photograph the entire body. I have removed the clothing to the extent possible and added photographs of the body. He would be a stand-out in any collection! Very Beautiful 25 Simon & Halbig #979 with bisque socket head featuring softly feathered eyebrows, finely painted upper and lower eyelashes, STUNNING brown sleep eyes with much depth, dot accents at the inside corners of the eyes, accented nostrils, open mouth with shaded and accented lips, two upper square cut upper teeth and one lower square tooth, very delicate decoration of the bisque, pierced ears (for the French doll trade), antique mohair wig, and on an early wood and composition 8-ball jointed body with straight wrists. The bisque is of very fine quality with superb modeling and decoration of the bisque. There is a line in the low neck socket area of the head near the mold line on the dolls left lower neck which is probably from the original kiln firing of the head. The line is very faint and is not seen unless you light the head from the inside. The line starts at the bottom of the neck socket and comes up to about 1.5 inches below the dolls left ear. This is not a typical place for damage, so I think it probably occurred during the manufacturing of the head. Please see the photos. The doll wears a superb costume of Dauphin featuring a wonderful velvet jacket with much decoration, blouse, trousers, undergarment, socks, and beautiful antique tan leather lace up shoes. The costume fits the doll like a glove and I do not want to remove it for fear of damaging the outfit. On the blouse, the cuffs are sewn together at the wrists. Through careful examination of the body through the clothing, as much as I can tell, the body appears to be in excellent condition and in the original finish. The Simon & Halbig 979 model is rarely found and has a very unique face! He would be a stand-out doll in the finest of collections! There is a line in the lower neck socket of the bisque head which is probably from the original firing of the head. The line is not seen unless you light the head from the inside. The line starts at the very bottom of the neck socket and comes up to about 1.5 inches below the dolls left ear. Her outfit is superb and is in overall excellent condition with some mends to the silk pants. The blouse is sewn at the sleeves and was not removed to photograph the body. I have examined the body through the clothing where I could and the body seems to be in excellent condition and in the original finish with a craze line on the underneath side of one finger. 979 15 (incised on back of head). The doll will be professionally packed in a strong box (36 x 15 x 15) with reinforcement.
