Early 9 Kestner closed mouth Christmas Angel Doll made for the French market. I was told these models with one piece angel bodies were made as store display models at Christmas. The sweet angel has blue glass paper weight set eyes with heavy feathered brows and closed mouth. She looks as if she is Blowing A Kiss! Her bisque head has no damage, no chips, cracks, marked only 4. Her hand made curly mohair wig is platinum blonde, I believe it is original to her. She has the most beautiful composition wings that are 24K gold leaf with a wooden staff also covered in gold leaf. The finish on the wings had worn so I had them covered in the gold leaf to show the fine detail they had. She came to me wearing this red silk ribbon that does show some age related wear. She does not look like she was ever played with, her wig looks great and ribbon still tied on her. Wonderfully detailed composition angel body has bent arms, no chips or beaks, there are a few crazing lines in her arms. The angel doll was restrung, her old stringing had broken from age. She is uniquely strung with her wings attached with wires thru the holes in her back. Her stand looks original with metal post that fits perfectly into her wing hole so she can hang to fly. There are a couple ways to suspend her from the stand, one she stands more upright and if you insert the post further she does lay more horizontal to fly. This is a very rare Kestner Doll. I have seen a similar Christmas Angel only once in The Glow Christmas collectors magazine. She is very collectable for both Doll and Christmas Collectors.
