I havent had this little Prairie girl very long but I just love her look. I was told she is very rare and unusual and I agree. Most likely because her limbs are carved out of wood. Check out her tiny fingers. Each lower arm is different. One is more open and the other has her fingers curled a bit, so she could hold a tiny purse. Her arms go past the elbow and her carved wooden legs are below her knees with little black boots painted on with orange/pink buttons and heels. I cant tell if the flesh part of the leg has been painted or if it is the color of the wood, because they look like natural wood in color. I had her join my Milliners Model dolls since she fit that category best with the addition of a bisque shoulder head rather than wood. Her face is very sweet with set blue glass eyes, one stroke brown brows, blushed cheeks, and light orange lips. She even has nostril dots and her full cheeks have a rosy blush to them. Her very curly blond hair is parted in the middle and cut short in a young girls style. There are no rubs or marks, so she must have been wearing her bonnet most of the time. Her facial painting is very well done, particularly for a smaller doll. Im not the expert, but was told she was most likely made by the German dollmaker, Kling. Her markings are 136 and 2/0 (I think). The line between the 2 and the 0 is not a crack, just part of the label; her head and breastplate are in great condition without cracks, chips, or factory flaws. Her clothing is just wonderful. It is all hand made with the tiniest stitching I have ever seen. The dress is cotton with stripes of a peachy color and small dots. Her top blouses out a bit due to tiny pleats and her sleeves are ¾ length. It fits her perfectly and has a matching sun bonnet with very tiny ricrac. There is a stitch for every loop. The ribbon that ties the bonnet is silk and is getting fragile. One side is shorter, but you can still tie it. Her dress shows its age due to light age fading and soil, but it is sturdy, and still looks quite nice. There are no tears and only one pin size hole in back close to the hem. It has held up exceptionally well considering its age. Her undergarments are made of a solid cotton and the petticoat has tea-like stains. Every other item she wears fits so perfectly you can tell they were made just for her. However, the petticoat is too large at the waist, and a bit too long. I raised it higher on her body so it does not hang below the dress any more. It is wrapped around and pinned in the back. The stitching seems to be very similar to her dress, so it may have been from another doll made by the same lady. Her dress has tiny little button holes stitched by hand and small buttons that you will need to have fingernails if you plan to undress her. Her little under-top has had snaps at the shoulders; obviously sewn in at a later date. The pantalettes are a perfect fit.
