Stunning 17 Closed Mouth 106 Belton Sonneberg Doll. Beautiful Rare 17 Antique Closed Mouth Bisque Head Belton. Mold 106 With Beautifully Painted Delicate Face, Pierce Ears, Full Mohair Wig & German Glass Blown Paper Weight Eyes. She has a Composition Covered Wood Ball Jointed Body With Straight Wrist. She was made in the 1800’s. She is in very nice condition for her age. Her bisque head has no repairs or damage. Characteristic’s of Belton-type dolls are: a un-cut pate with 1, 2 or 3 small cut holes. The top of the head may be concave, flat or convex. This Belton had 3 holes & her head is concave. She has her original thick wire that loops through her neck to connect the head to the body. It is said that Belton-type dolls are not attributed to any single antique doll maker. It is thought that they are German but attributed to the French. It was said that they could have been made in both countries. (research found in 200 years of dolls book) This lovely Belton girl has light blue glass blown German. Weight eyes, long feather brows (like the French dolls) & pieced ears. She wears a full lemon yellow mohair wig. Made around 1870s, she is a rare closed mouth doll. Her bisque head has a pale tone with a ruddy complexion. Her blush is delicately applied to her face & her lips are finely outlined. She is a stunning doll. Her undergarments are antique as well as her socks. Her shoes are replacements. I think her gold & opal earrings could be a replacement as well I’m just not sure. Her condition is very nice for her to be from 1870. Her head has no damage or repairs. However her left eyes has a crack inside the glass. Her body is in good shape. There is some wear on her fingers & joints. Please see her photos without clothing.
