Here is a wonderful and very rare, early circa 1914, German Steiff (script ff button-in-ear) jointed caricature, uniformed male doll with exaggerated features. Called, ” Infantry Grenadier ” or ” Tommy ” on pages 107-110, “Steiff Teddy Bears, Dolls & Toys”-Wilson & Conway, he measures. 14 1/2 tall, with swivel joints at his shoulders and hips with long slender legs and large, flat pointed feet. He has large felt hands with individually stitched fingers, a swivel neck, black beady eyes, mustache and the early stitched, center face seam & applied ears. He wears his original, dark grey, two-piece, felt uniform with many brass buttons. And brown leather belt (impressed STEIFF) to match his brown leather shoes, dark red trim on jacket, cuffs, collar, stripe on trousers and matching, trimmed military cap, large metal buckle and sword in belt. He has no stains or fading, no holes or tears, no repairs or touch up and is in excellent condition (one small button on cuff is missing and another is missing the button cover).
