Early XII K Kestner Mystery Doll French Wood-Compo Body Antique Bisque German
Bisque Head Marked “K” and “XII”. Early French Wood-and-Compo Body. Blue Paperweight (Set) Eyes. Ears Pierced through the Head. Open Mouth with Teeth. Original Antique Doll on Antique Body. Unsigned Doll: We confidently attribute this doll to J. Kestner as one of their early works. But, as with any attribution, what you are getting is a professional opinion. Thank you for your understanding. 17.5″ tall and marked only with a fancy incised “K” on the back of her head, and straight incised (not inked) marks at the rim that are either “XII” or “IIX. She has an early French wood-and-composition body stamped Breveté S. ” Notice the open “peg-strung hips and wood components, such as the arms. She is a beautiful treasure! Her face is well painted… And unusual, with a tall curved/”wraparound” forehead — that is, the head opening is set further back vs. Her ears are pierced straight through the head, similar to early Jumeaus. She has a small “o”-shaped dimple on her chin. She has fabulous blue set paperweight eyes, open mouth, feathered brows and lashes. Her wig — which had been replaced — is in a beautiful set, and the clothing is very old but not original to doll. Notice the 2-piece undergarments — slip and pantaloons. Her pin could possibly be gold. Her shoes are vintage. Altogether a really interesting and unusual doll. The following props are not included: DOLL STAND, MIRROR. Beautiful antique condition — from a non-smoking environment. It appears that at least one finger on either hand has been repaired and the paint touched up. The clothing has some aging and could use a soaking… Which I will let you decide. IMPORTANT: Besides the noteworthy issues mentioned above, EXPECT any antique doll (bisque/composition/leather/china/wood) to ALSO have: (1) SIGNS OF AGE – for example: toned/crazed/chipped composition, minor wig pulls, loss of “hair” lashes on bisque heads (if they had them), not-so-tight stringing, etc. (2) MINOR CONSERVATION WORK by previous owners/collectors – for example: reset eyes in most cases! , repairs to wig, repairs to clothing, touch-ups on composition/finish/paint, etc. Any MAJOR issues — hairline crack, total repaint, etc. – would be itemized above, but these normal age/conservation details are not. They are to be expected. I’LL BE GLAD TO ANSWER. If you live in Australia, Canada, France, Germany, Japan, or U. These countries have more flexible Priority Post options, but it depends on the size and value of the item you’re purchasing. And provided the items can travel safely in the same box. Opens in a separate window/tab. As often happens, it’s the few bad apples out there who ruin it for the rest of us. Not knowing what they’re doing. And then, when they realize they’ve ruined the doll, they return it saying it was defective. BUT HAVING SAID ALL THAT.. I do bend over backwards, attempting to disclose any noteworthy condition issues I can find or think of. But these are antique and vintage dolls — so, please understand that they won’t be in brand-new condition. There will always be some minor indication of their age, and it would be impossible to itemize every single pinhead-size stain on the outfit, or hairline scratch on the body. Please expect these types of conditions with old dolls. IT CONTAINS VERY IMPORTANT INFORMATION.
