HOWEVER, its value is determined by the object created from it, the quality of its craftsmanship, and the rarity of the object. German Silver was developed in the 19th century by German metalworkers. It was developed to drive down the costs of sterling silver and other types of silver for creating jewelry. German Silver varies in composition. The approximate percentages of the three elements are copper, 50% – 60%; nickel, 20% – 30%; and zinc, 20%. German Silver appears as real silver due to the similar shiny and lustrous qualities. Andrea della Robbia was born into a family of Florentine artists. Specializing in narrative Renaissance. Sculpture, Andrea della Robbia’s best-known work is the. Foundling Children (Bambino Tondi) (1463-66) on the facade of Spedale degli Innocenti (Hospital of the Innocents) located in Florence, Italy. The hospital opened in1445, and it was one of the first institutions in Europe dedicated specifically to the care of abandoned children. The fleur-de-lis is the official emblem of Florence since the early eleventh century… Beating France by several decades. The Florentine fleur-de-lis has stamens interposed between the petals. And the tips of the petals and the stamens form flowers themselves. The French version shows three petals, the central one which is erect and the other two curving outward which are joined by a band with protruding feet. The Medici was the most famous family in Florence and dominated the political scene in Tuscany for three centuries from the early 1400s until the last Tuscan Medici ruler expired in 1737. The Medici have long been associated with balls. Welcome to Vintage Wishes and Dreams! Please view all photos and read description prior to purchasing.
