Antique German Christmas Ornament Boy on a Sled RARE Artisan Restoration. This is an absolute charmer described as R2 (very rare) in George Johnson’s book Christmas Ornaments and Collectibles. I also used this reference book as a guide for paint restoration. Glass is intact with no cracks or flaws. Internal silvering is strong with some oxidation spots and at the pike. This fellow came to me with a great deal of paint loss. Paint restoration was accomplished using Vitrail glass paint from France. Only the eyes were touched up on the face. As an artist, I strive to be historically correct as to the original intent and offer these scarce beauties to be enjoyed another hundred years.
