Deeply carved scroll and accurately painted purfling, surrounded by inlaid purfling and wooden inlays on the edges of front and back. T his beautiful violin shows some minor marks in its old amber varnish, but no open cracks or open seams. The table is medium to fine. Grained spruce and the 1-piece back, as well as ribs and neck, is maple. Like always the instrument has been completely checked by our luthiers and by our violin player on playability. It received a new set up with new ebony pegs, an elder ebony tailpiece & chinrest, a new bridge, new soundpost and new strings. These are new German silver wound steel core strings with good projection, easy to play while allowing rapid finger performance. We use these strings on mostly all of our violins to provide a comparison of the tonal qualities of each instrument in the videos. In any case a new owner should consider higher quality strings of own personal preference to enhance the full character of this violin! Good old collector’s violin in immediate playing condition!
