Vintage Antique Hammered Wood Nut Bowl withSterling Silver Lid Possibly German
This is a vintage and possibly antique hammered wood nut bowl with sterling silver lid. The bowl measures about 5.5″ in diameter by about 3.25″ tall. I don’t know what kind of wood it’s made of? Maybe maple or teak but not certain?? The lid measures about 5.75 in diameter. It has a hallmark on the inner lip that appears to be a crescent moon, crown, 925 and another mark possibly an owl? But can’t quite make it out?? The lid has three nuts on top surrounded by silver prongs and leaves with a hook style handle. The lid has a dent/ding about 3/4 long on the outer edge and a few smaller ones with scuff and or scratch marks from prior use and wear. The feet of the bowl represent walnuts and are also silver. The lid alone weighs approx. I don’t know anything about the bowl and can’t find another one similar online? Possibly a valuable piece for a collector. Definitely unique and a conversation piece. I acquired the bowl at an estate sale in a box of miscellaneous items but don’t have any use for it personally. I hope that someone else will be able to enjoy it more than me. It will make a nice addition to any vintage or antique collection. Acquired at estate sale. Overall appears in good condition. A nice addition to any vintage or antique collection!
