Rare matched set of three original 19th-century German chromolithographs from the celebrated regional costume series illustrated by Albert Kretschmer and published by J. Bach’s Verlag Fr. Each print retains its original plate number, artist signature, printer’s credit, and publisher information. The collection was acquired together and includes a handwritten collector’s note describing the traditional chromolithographic printing process, which will be included with the sale. Plate 34 – Chur-Hessen, Um Marburg. Plate 35 – Nieder-Churhessen, Nenndorf – Plate 57 – Würtemberg, Ulm Rottweil. Gustav Leutzsch, Gera (Reuss). These beautifully detailed chromolithographs depict traditional regional German folk costumes (Trachten) and represent one of the most respected costume illustration series of the Victorian era. The vibrant colors, period dress, and exceptional decorative appeal make them highly desirable for collectors of antique prints, German cultural history, folk art, and historical fashion. Professionally matted and housed in matching gold-tone frames, the prints display exceptionally well as a coordinated wall grouping. Very good antique condition with expected age-related toning and minor wear consistent with 19th-century prints. Colors remain strong and attractive. Frames are included and present beautifully. Please review all photographs carefully as they are part of the description. Original 19th-century chromolithographs? Matching framed set of three? Signed in plate by Albert Kretschmer? Complete printer and publisher credits? German folk costume / Trachten subjects? Victorian-era decorative art? Collector’s provenance note included? Outstanding display presentation. An increasingly difficult-to-find matched group from one of the most important German costume illustration series of the 19th century.
