This is a gorgeous and very rare antique Victorian – Art Deco carved Opal Stickpin in the form of a Dog head with a Ruby Eye in 10-12 Karat Gold. The stickpin is Museum Quality. The gorgeous opal has magnificent fire with blue, green and yellow. The details in the dog’s face are exquisite and it has a wonderful expression. The dog may be a Doberman, a German Shepherd, a Terrier, a Labrador Retriever or another breed. The eye is a round ruby cabochon. The jewel is a masterpiece of lapidary work and it is fabulous. It is very rare to find antique carved opals and this one in the form of a dog is magnificent. The piece dates to the 19th – early 20th Century. We love our antique dog jewelry and this is one of the most beautiful pieces we have ever seen. The stickpin is in its original fitted box. The box is velvet and silk with the mark of Longman & Strongi’th’arm, By Appointment and Widdowson & Veale, Albemarle St. The stickpin is 2 3/4 inches long. The dog head is 5/8 inch (17mm) wide and 1/2 inch (12mm) tall. The dog appears to have a tiny fleck off the top of the dog’s ear. This is very difficult to see but i wanted to mention it.
