Fantastic early German putz ram. The coat is real fur with animal hide backing, making him among the earliest of putz sheep, predating those covered in cloth. 4.5 high and approximately 4 long, he is very large. I have never seen a larger one with the early animal hide coat. He even has his ear tips intact! You never see this on these sheep. The ear tips are always chipped. Eyes are a lovely green color and beautiful condition with the delicate brown eyebrow pained above. If you look closely, you can see that his left front leg was broken and repaired at some point in the past, and the fur around it has gotten a little darker and stiffer. Hes legs were made with extra attention you see on early pieces, where the wood is coated with plaster and molded to a more realistic leg shape. This has chipped off around his feet and there are some lines in the plaster on the legs. Please look a the photos and message any questions. I’m always happy to send more photos!
