Featured in our first seven photos only are a pair of adorable. Character children, 7 1/2 tall, dolls created by Wagner & Zetsche. They were introduced as. Art Dolls that corresponded to the Art Doll movement which accompanied the Arts & Crafts Movement and were modeled after Zetsche’s four grandchildren. Harald, Hansi, Inge and Barbele. Haralit (a cellulose-based composition) flange, swivel heads and. Arms and firmly stuffed, pink twill. Cloth bodies and legs. Richard Wagner (business partner) and Richard Zetzsche (artist, designer & sculptor) founded their doll company in January 1875 located in Illmenau, Thuringia, Germany. The dolls were produced and patented in 1916 and. Are marked 2/0 Hansi WZ on the back of their necks as well as being signed on the base of each of their shoes. Their sweet faces have intaglio eyes, open/closed mouths, teeth, dimples, rosy cheeks and deeply molded and hand painted hair, cloth legs are jointed at the hips and move well. The arms are one-piece with nicely detailed fingers. They wear all their original, detailed and embroidered, multi-layered factory clothing including aprons, wonderful bonnets, undies, knit socks and leatherette shoes with trim. They are in excellent condition with no damages or repairs, no stains or odors and from a smoke free home (some paint faded which is normal for these dolls).
