Rare 19th Century 34cm E3D Déposé Etienne Denamur Antique French Doll. Very rare Etienne Denamur French Antique Doll dated around 1880 with open mouth, pierced ears and earrings. Porcelaine white skin with just a hint of blush and blue eyes. Doll Height is 34cm Approximately and she weights 366 gr. Hairpiece Removed and Light Test Performed. No Cracks were found. Stamped on the back of Head as Follows. Kindly keep in mind that this Doll is over 100 years old. We have gone through great length to check it for breakages and other major damages. The head appears to be in very good condition with no apparent hairline cracks, chips or breakages. The body presents numerous scuff marks and hairline cracks with the underlying wood apparent in some places. This doll is part of a collection that once belonged to a French Nun in the early 20th Century who looked after children in France after the war. Upon her passing these dolls were found in her attic and passed on to her nephew who looked after them and displayed them in a cabinet away from Dust and Sunlight for many years. Whether those dolls were acquired by the nun at the time or brought over by the children she looked after and then left behind is unknown but it is entirely possible they were once played with.
