18 Antique German Wax Over Composition Character Lady Fashion Doll circa 1900
Early 18 Antique German Wax Over Composition Character Lady Fashion Doll circa 1900 or earlier. She has a slightly turned shoulder-head on a cloth body with composition limbs. She has fixed blue glass eyes, a closed mouth, and a blonde mohair wig that had been applied. Both the cloth body and the clothing appear to be original to the doll. She is wearing an early two-piece velvet suit with lace and fur, which has been hand sewn and is fragile in places, a silk and lace petticoat, cotton and lace bloomers and vest, and silk stockings. There is also an imitation seed pearl necklace. There are several cracks in the wax and what appears to be a maker’s mark on the base of the neckplate. The body is in reasonable condition, with wear consistent with her age. Please study the pictures carefully, as they form part of the description.
