This piece would have been from the late 1960s to 1989 and was handcrafted in the Erzgebirge region of East Germany. Please know the blades of the windmill have scorch marks on them in some areas and the blades come off and on that can be put back on but they do come unattached. I would not want to glue them because it might mess up the weight and interfere with the spinning action that happens when you have the heat from the candles moving it. The piece does not come with the candles that fit into it. Also, the carolers have spots on their back for angels wings but these have no wings. It is 9 in high and 8 in across. This is truly a great piece of History, an item that actually crossed the” iron curtain” And made it to the United States. And I hope now it will be preserved. So that many that generations of children can learn the same lessons in history as families begin to put out their favorite holiday decorations.
