Antique 1900s Austrian German Hand Carved Painted Wood Figure Iron Sleigh Sled. Portrait Sudio Prop for Children or Dolls. It stands 21″ tall x 34″ long x 11.5 wide and weighs 22.5 pounds un-packaged. This very rare antique sleigh which has been decorated with extreme discipline. Other examples of the much smaller sleighs are overly decorated with bright Bavarian child like colors. This one is more refined and would look spectacular sitting next to antique Christmas feather tree! It features heavily carved native wood from Austria or Germany and as close as I can determine is dated from the late 1800s to early 1900s. It has very heavy iron railings that are screwed/riveted into the wood. The seat area is large enough for a great big German Santa! It measures approximately 8.5″ x 5″. I didn’t have a German Santa or any real children available for my pictures, so in the last photos I posed my 22 twin Lloyderson dolls with the sleigh. This would be great for a portrait studio prop for use with real children, home decoration, doll display accessory, or just for display by itself! It is a perfect collectible for the holidays or for all year round!! This is a fabulous unique piece would add class to any room for whatever reason you choose to use it for.. Nice shabby chic condition with age appropriate wear, paint loss and some cracks in between the wooden pieces. There are a few cracks in the bottom wooden rails but these are held in place by surrounding iron rails, so it is very sturdy and well built. It has normal wear to the painted finishes which gives it a very shabby chic look! This magnificent piece is at least 120 years old, so it is obviously not new. The back area is painted with flowers in a German dutch design. The exquisite hand carved maiden figure standing at the front with two dogs by her side is beautifully carved!
