Offered for sale is an early German china doll. The doll is 22 inches tall on a cloth body with china arms. The doll has great expression and modeling. It has painted bi-colored blue eyes, red lines above the eyes, and parted lips. It has many brush strokes creating wisps of hair. I have seen this doll dressed as a boy or a girl. It has been dressed in beautiful antique fabrics. The bonnet is made of lace and ribbon. The shoes are newly made. There is no mark inside nor outside the shoulder plate. I believe I have seen this doll also in paper mache. The china head and the arms have no damage nor repair. The cloth body is original but the lower legs from the knee down have been replaced with matching antique fabric. The original lower legs had been chewed.
