Lovely antique German Biedermeier china shoulder head doll with wig c1850. The doll features an exquisite silky smooth porcelain shoulder head with black painted cap on top and porcelain arms and legs. She has an especially sweet face with meticulously painted soft blue eyes and beautiful peachy pink lips and cheeks. She retains her original sawdust filled body which looks to be original, lace and eyelet petticoat and bloomers. She wears a honey blond human hair wig with flowers. Her nylon skirt and blouse with lace and stain rose detailing are a later creation. The doll is in good condition and her sawdust filled body is solid and strong. She has a few flaws to note, including minor wear to the paint on the back of her boots and there is and there is a very small chip on the tip of one shoe. There is also a very faint tiny little mark or indentation just above the doll’s left nostril. It is not very easily noticed, but you can see it when you are looking for it when zooming in on the close up photos of her face. After I removed the glue residue from the top of the head I did find some minor surface wear to the left hand side of the back plate Most likely wig pulls. There is one wear spot which penetrates the surface a tad. The doll’s antique lace and eyelet undergarments show some very minor signs of wear. Please see photos for further details.
