This lovely little piece is a primitive, hand made hand painted Art Deco Bunny Easter cart candy container. The piece has lots of aged patina – the antique look things get over time. It is a beautiful little primitive piece – made by hand, and and hand painted. It has it’s two little original tin metal wheels on the back and one on the front. The front doesn’t have 2 wheels – I don’t believe it ever did. It stands really well, and there are no holes where there would have been wheels. There is crackling to the finish on the egg, and very tiny rubs and scratches, and there are splinters of wood missing on one side. Photos describe that best. It has a little spun cotton chick on a bed of grass in the back that I believe are original. The grass looks to be made from glassine – a waxed translucent paper that was used in this era before cellophane. The little chick displays well, but only has 1 eye. His feet are wire wrapped in paper. The little candy container is marked Germany. It is about 6 inches long. This container has a matching friend – a chick pulling an egg cart, also with a chick, and with grass, and also marked Germany. I have the chick cart in another listing.
